Google is in the news again! This is totally unconfirmed at the moment but The Inquirer claims that according to it’s “well placed sources“, Google is in the process of acquiring Valve any moment now.

It is quite obvious that Google’s interest in Valve, an entertainment software and technology company based in Bellevue, Washington is primarily for it’s content distribution platform, Steam which is the best among the ones that are available currently. Valve’s current portfolio includes Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, and Portal which accounts for over 20 million retail units in sales. It is also known that Valve games account for over 80% of the PC online action market.
Is Google getting into gaming? That is something to be debated upon. However, it will do Valve a lot of good and suppress any kind of competition that they may possibly face.
Update: Valve says Google isn’t buying the company. The news is a complete fabrication
