Having seen what Google Chrome did to the Web Browser Market Share on Day 1 of its existence, it only made sense that I continue closely following the statistics and see what happens as days go by. Here’s how the pie chart looked for my blog visitor stats before the introduction of Google Chrome.

As can be seen, most of the visitors (over 85%) of Tech Spikes use Firefox.
The day Google Chrome was introduced to the world, things did shake up a bit and you can check out our detailed analysis about that here - Browser Market Share After Google Chrome.
Having gone mad after the introduction of a new product, it is quite expected that things settle down a bit from Day 2 onwards. Here is how Day 2 shaped up.
Data for September 4th - After Chrome Day 2.

As expected, quite a few Firefox users who experimented with the new browser have gone back to their old and faithful browser. One more thing that is noticeable here is that Internet Explorer users seem to have been slow in trying out the new browser and mustered up courage only on Day 2.
Comparison Chart

Bottomline: Firefox regains a little of it’s lost market share and Internet Explorer goes down, even more than before and Chrome benefits!

Narayananh - It’s interesting that when Chrome was first released, the use of Firefox went down for visitors to your site and then back up again the next day. On day one of this series you said that you were going to track this over a week - are you still planning on looking at the statistics a week later?
I have never heard of pMetrics so I’m going to take a look at that next. Is that what you used to make the charts and graphs in your article or did you use a different program for that?
