For all you Twitterers out there – by default, Twitter only allows you to send a direct message to one person at a time. But what if you want to send the same DM to multiple users?

Send multiple DMs on Twitter with TweetGuru

TweetGuru has a free twitter service that allows you to send direct messages to multiple people at the same time.
Use it if you want to say something to a group of people, or want to thank multiple users.

Using this service is simple. Just go to the TweetGuru site, and click “Sign in with Twitter”.
All you have to do then is to allow TweetGuru access to your Twitter account, and you can start sending multiple DMs.

To send a direct message to multiple users, fill the “IDs” field with a list of users, separated by commas. The maximum number of recipients you can set now is limited to 12.

Fill the “Tweet Message” field with the contents of the message you want to send to the list of people above.
Once you’re done, just hit the “Send Multi DM” button and your direct message is sent to all the persons on the list.

TweetSwitch Lets you Use Twitter from IM and EMail

TweetSwitch is an online service that allows Twitter users to manage their Twitter accounts using other means – IM and email.

It is aimed at those who spend time in an IM or email client, and are more comfortable there.

To start using TweetSwitch, just visit the TweetSwitch homepage and click the “Log in with Twitter” button.

After logging into TweetSwitch using Twitter, you are shown the TweetSwitch dashboard.
Here, you can configure your IM and email accounts to use TweetSwitch.

On the dashboard, you’ll see three boxes. Your tweets will be delivered to the first box, and in case it cannot be delivered, it will go to the second, and then to the third box.

So you could, for example, set the first box to your IM account. If you’re offline, the message will instead be sent to the second box, which you can configure as your email account.

Using TweetSwitch

TweetSwitch is supported on a variety of IM services – GTalk, Live, Yahoo, AIM and ICQ. It’s also supported for every email service.

Once you sign up TweetSwitch for your IM account, a contact is added to your chat list – TweetSwitch.

In order to use the service, you’ll have to send an IM containing a TweetSwitch command to the new contact.

For example, to post a tweet, you’ll type:
tweet Hello Twitter!

Twitter has bought Mixer Labs, the creators of GeoAPI, to integrate their service into Twitter.

The Mixer Labs crew has been working on harnessing the power of local information for a couple years and just recently launched GeoAPI, a comprehensive service for helping developers build geolocation-aware applications. As of today, they’re part of Twitter and will be working to combine the contextual relevance of location to tweets.

The takeover was announced yesterday on the Twitter Blog, and it cites a very dramatic example:
