Never thought anything could beat Google as the most visited site in the US, didn’t youi? Even for a short while…
But now Facebook has surpassed Google – as the US of A’s most visited website this week.

Previously, Facebook would get more visits than Google on holidays – it happened on Christmas day ‘09 and on New Years’ day. It also overtook Google on the weekend of March 6th and 7th.

However, this week, Facebook saw massive growth from the same time last year – with a whopping 185% increase in the number of visits, compared to Google’s paltry increase of 9% over last year.

Facebook overtakes Google market share (chart)

Facebook’s exponential growth over the past year is very evident, and if Google wants to keep up with their “Most visited site in the US” label, they’re going to have to do something about it.
