We recently wrote about the open-sourcing of Google’s Chromium OS, and if you’ve been itching to try it out on your computer, we have good news for you.
@Hexxeh has built an image of Chromium OS that can be booted off a USB stick!
Without further ado, visit this page.
Getting Chromium OS to boot of a USB stick
- Go to this site.
- Click on any of the download links, or just click here
- The downloaded file is a .tar.gz archive, use Ubuntu’s built-in archive manager to extract it, or use WinRAR for Windows.
- You’ll now end up with a .img file, chromiumos.img. This you will have to write to a flash drive using our instructions on writing bootable img files to flash drives.
- Now just boot from your flash drive, and Voila! Chromium OS!
