Apple is now famous for their iPhone app review process, with unclear rules that even Apple doesn’t seem to follow. Applications have been rejected in large numbers, without clear reasons being given, and, recently, Apple has even censored the rejection notices given to developers by including a non-disclosure agreement with it.
Adam Martin, an iPhone developer turned blogger, has started a new site where he posts news on the latest in Apple’s App Store rejections.
The site, aimed at publicising the information about AppStore rejections and clearing the mist that surrounds it, already contains a whole number of rejections, and a very objective look at each rejected app.
For example, Grand Tour 3D, a Solar System simulator was rejected because of a joke about the price.
The developer had written:
Costs about $149,999,995.01 less then the Voyager probes.
The App Store rules state that the price should not be mentioned in the description of the application, but this might be considered ridiculous.
Apparently, Apple told him such a statement might “cause confusion in foreign markets”.
Another great rejection was the iPhone Superguide, an iPhone manual in eBook format, meant to be a handy guide.
And guess what, the book was rejected because it contained the word “iPhone”!
App Rejections documents all this and more.
In fact, at the end of it you’ll just feel like switching to Android! If the App Store approval process goes on in this fashion, that’s where all the iPhone app developers are going to go, anyway.
