Windows 7 comes with new ‘Superbar’ which is a totally redesigned taskbar that shows the present date along with time in the system tray. The Superbar has a few options with which you can customize the date and time format.

It also has options to display to show AM/PM modes, the current Date and Month. That’s a neat and very necessary feature as I earlier thought it was a glaring omission.

If you’d like this on any of your other Windows PC (read as Windows XP and Windows Vista), here is a tool that helps you customize your Windows Taskbar and install a Windows 7 look-a-like clock on your taskbar to make it look like a Superbar.

Tclock is a very small and portable utility which can be customized to show the Windows 7 look-a-like Date and Time in Windows XP and Vista. Basically it is an application that installs the customization option for the system tray. You can customize your time and date the way it looks on Windows 7!

Windows XP:

Windows Vista:

As you see above the date and month can also be displayed as in the Windows 7 Superbar in your current Operating System.

Download Tclock. Extract the zip files and then run ‘Tclock.exe’. You will now see the Tclock in your system tray. Right click on the Tclock and you can start customizing your Tclock right away.

Click on Tclock Properties and then customize Tclock the way you want.

You have a long list of customization options for Tclock you can choose from. Here are a few:

  • Changing Tclock’s font and color.
  • Size and position of Tclock.
  • Change the date and time format.
  • Setting alarms.
  • Customize your start menu by hiding it, rename start button, opening start menu from system tray.
  • Setting transparency for start menu and task bar.

Tclock functions as an excellent look-a-like of the Windows 7 Superbar. It is a small package available with a number of customization options. Check it out!
