Hi Doug, I think the media center edition is still available. Surprised that the HDX version has so many problems! Do let us know what HP has to say.

I also posted on your site about the Hp Hdx "dragon", with vista, having a bad time with it, same with the all in one they have out, some of the same problems, won't get on internet, other problems with this one, Compusa (day before they got taken over) couldn't install larger hard drives, vista wouldn't install, won't run my external monitor correctly. I would like to put xp on it but afraid there might be stuff in it xp's never seen, will be shipping it back to hp if a usb wwan card won't work in it. Oddly enough, I have a cheap acer extensa laptop with vista, no problem, gets on net, runs external monitor, as do probably most computers, (except high dollar hp's). Others I know have basic laptops with vista, no problem. I like some of the improvements in vista, like explorer folder pane moves so you can read it without manually scrolling, office 07 (trial version). 2 buttons to start lots of programs, is really nice. Maybe vista for work (cheap laptop), xp for play? How is xp media center, can you still get it?

Windows Vista makes me angry, but I'm using it right now. I'm riding out things until Service Pack 1 which I am hoping will increase the speed of things substantially. Also heard through the grpaevine that Microsoft are planning on releasing a Performance Patch sometime soon as well, to address all speed issues in Windows Vista.

Windows Vista is an engineering horror, it's really no different to me than XP, other than a few UI enhancements anyway. I have yet to see the real potential of Vista yet.

I also have Xubuntu installed on my machine, which I occasionally use.
