Sony has officially launched VAIO Nation, a social networking site that lets upcoming and established musicians and artists in the world of music and film industry communicate through the medium of blogging.

VAIO Nation

The site is for creative musicians and artists who want to share their ideas and skills with the community. A decent social networking website (inspired mainly by MySpace and IMDb), it is not infected by spam and useless communities with little or no user participation (atleast as of now). Sony has roped in popular musicians DJ Norman Jay and rapper Plan B who will regularly blog and showcase their experiments with different styles of music. Content wise it is decent but is it possible to build a community or shift users from MySpace to VAIO Nation?

The basic objective of the intiative- encourage customers to interact with VAIO range and software (Sony Acid pro and Sound Forge).

I personally feel they should have gone with www.vaionation.com instead of www.vaionation.co.uk unless they have plans of creating separate sites for each country like www.vaionation.co.us, www.vaionation.co.in etc.
