Avis, the car rental company has started a blog titled ‘We Try Harder‘ to be a bit bolder and pioneering than their competitors.

So what is the blog about? It is an informal way to connect with their customers and discuss about car rental services and provide a platform to interact in a better way. The latest post even talks about how to get the best price at Avis with tips such as:

  1. Book in advance – Just like low cost airlines
  2. Prices are in 24-hour blocks – Try using the car in 24 hour blocks instead of say 26 or 30 hours so that you can save up on that additional day’s rental.
  3. Try a different day – Some Avis business centres are busy on different days.
  4. Longer the rental, the more economical it is – Obviously :)

The best part of the blog is the tone of the blog and the involvement of senior guys like Eibhlin Payne, Head of Customer Support, Xavier Vallee, Head of Marketing etc. However it would be great if they could post more frequently and regularly. The Avis blog is an effort to align with building a customer base and creating a brand.
